HOUSTON – April 18, 2008 - Emilio Navaira has reached a significant milestone in his recovery and has been upgraded to fair condition at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. Further medical updates will be provided at a press conference at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center on Friday, April 18 at 10 a.m.
Emilio is eating on his own, has taken a couple of steps by himself, is talking in a whisper and told the doctors he's ready to go home. At the press conference today Emilio's wife thanked everyone for their prayers, blessings and support.

Houston, April 1, 2008 10:00 am As part of the ongoing treatment to the various injuries sustained by Emilio Navaira in his tour bus accident, doctors performed a successful procedure on the afternoon of March 31 to treat a pseudoaneuurysm in Navaira's right lung. A pseudoaneurysm is a contained rupture of an arterial wall. Some pseudoaneuryms resolve spontaneously, while others (like Navaira's) require repair to prevent hemorrhage. Interventional radiologist Dr. Alan M. Cohen successfully treated the pseudoaneurysm using an endovascular approach. Navaira is recovering well from yesterday's procedure; however, he remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann -Texas Medical Center.

STILL CRITICAL: But family reports Emilio blinks, grabs hand

According to the family, Emilio blinked his eyes, squeezed his wife's hand, and moved his feet when asked to by his family on Wednesday night.

Emilio's manager Joe Casias detailed the good news on Emilio at mid-day Thursday but was quick to stress that Emilio remains in stable, but extremely critical condition at a Houston hospital. According to Casias, the first sign of Emilio's ability to respond came Wednesday afternoon when his wife Maria, and his sister Yvette were in the room with him. "I was out in the hallway with the rest of the family when they came out and said Emilio had squeezed his wife's hand when she asked him to," said Casias. "She (Maria) said that then she asked 'if can you hear me, open your eyes' and he did."

Casias said the wife and sister asked Emilio to move his feet and move his toes and he did with limited movement. Later on Wednesday night, intermittingly, Emilio also responded - opening his eyes and moving his feet - when asked by his sons Emilio IV and Diego were in the room. Yet despite the glimmer of good news, Casias stressed that Emilio stills remains in extremely critical condition.

My name is Esteban Martinez and I am the new Webmaster. The site isnt finished yet but it is good enough to open. We also have a new Message Board/Forum for our listeners, where you can talk with others and the AmigosRadio.com staff.
